Heat your home with a pellet boiler

In recent years, more and more people have decided to replace their conventional heating systems with a pellet boiler to heat their homes and provide them with domestic hot water (DHW). If you too would like to opt for a pellet boiler, pay attention to this article, where we tell you everything you need to know about this heating system.

Which pellet boiler power do I need?

The power you need to heat your home depends on several factors, such as the climatic characteristics of the area where you live, the square metres of your home and the level of insulation of the different rooms.

Pellet boilers are designed in different models that differ mainly in their power. Smaller boilers, such as the Cantina Compact model from Ecoforest’s Cantina boilers range, have a lower output and are designed for smaller spaces such as bedrooms or basements. But if you are looking for something more powerful, we also have the Cantina Super, which has a higher calorific value and adds innovative advances.

There are also boilers with a higher output that are intended to heat larger spaces. Ecoforest’s Vap line of boilers fulfils this purpose. As they have a high heat output, they can be installed in larger areas. The boilers Vap 24 and Vap 30 are designed with autonomy for easy maintenance, while the Vap 100, which is the most powerful and autonomous boiler in the Ecoforest range.

Ecoforest pellet boilers have a heating power range from 12 kW to 100 kW. To decide which one is best for you, you must first calculate the dimensions of your home.

A boiler with a power of about 12 kW is the most suitable to heat and deliver DHW for a house of 100 m². For bigger houses, with around 200 m², a pellet boiler of 24 kW is more suitable. If your house is larger, you must increase the output accordingly.

What is needed to install a pellet boiler?

Nowadays, Ecoforest pellet boilers are very easy to install and take up less and less space. In other words, we are dealing with a heating system that, in addition to all its heating advantages, will not give you any installation problems.

If you are going to install the pellet boiler in a house under construction, you can easily provide a space for the boiler room and another for the silo (the place where the pellets are stored). A house under construction allows you to include the space for your boiler in the design so that it gets better integrated with the rest of the house.

If, on the other hand, you are installing a pellet boiler in a regular home, you will need to make space for it. If you are going to replace your old boiler with a pellet boiler, you may be able to use the same place to install it. In addition, you will have to make a space for the silo.

How much does it cost to install a pellet boiler?

The purchase and installation of a pellet boiler requires a slightly higher initial investment than conventional boilers. However, it is much cheaper in the long run because biomass price is much cheaper than oil price. Normally, pellet boiler prices vary depending on the model and output. At present, the price starts at around €3,000.
