How many environmentally friendly heating systems are there today?

Current heating and cooling systems still have a high environmental impact. According to the Institute for Diversification and Saving in Spain, annual electricity consumption in Spain generates around two tonnes of CO2 per year, one of the gases with the greatest impact on the greenhouse effect. For this reason, more and more people are looking for alternative systems that provide them with comfort at home in an environmentally friendly way. In this post, we tell you what these systems are and what their benefits are.

Heat pumps

Heat pumps are a great ecological choice, as their main energy sources are renewable and clean. On the one hand, there are ground-source or water-to-water heat pumps, which work thanks to the energy emanating from the subsoil. On the other hand, there are air-source or air-to-water heat pumps, whose main source of energy is the air in the environment. Both pumps use renewable energies and emit hardly any CO2 into the atmosphere, making them one of the most environmentally friendly integral air conditioning systems on the market. In addition to this, they are very economical systems, as they hardly use any electricity, which means savings of up to 80% in electricity consumption.

These systems are a great choice because, in addition to being economical and ecological, they are really efficient, very easy to maintain and more durable than conventional systems.

Solar panels

Solar panels are an environmentally friendly air conditioning system that uses the sun’s energy to operate. This system is extremely efficient, especially in those areas of Spain where there is more sunshine. It is for this reason that more and more people are installing solar panels in their homes. In addition, this system is becoming more and more economical, due to initiatives in Spain and Europe to encourage consumers to install environmentally friendly HVAC systems.

Over the years and thanks to technological advances, this complete energy equipment has been improving and, nowadays, there are high-capacity batteries that allow you to store solar energy to supply you in those months with limited sunlight. This makes solar panels an efficient energy source all year round.

Pellets

Pellet stoves are very efficient and environmentally friendly heating systems. This is mainly due to the energy source they use: pellets. This biomass fuel is really effective, as it has a high calorific value, is CO2-neutral, is cheap compared to alternatives such as oil, and has a long service life.

Pellet stoves are a great choice for people who want to heat their homes in winter in an environmentally friendly and efficient way.

Wind turbines

Wind turbines are devices that convert the kinetic energy of the wind into electrical energy. In Spain, wind energy has been the second source of electricity generation. Due to its efficiency and its ecological character, it is one of the most demanded systems nowadays.
Many people do not know that there are wind turbines that provide energy to all kinds of installations. In fact, there is a technology called mini wind (because it has a power of less than 100 kW) that is used for energy self-consumption. And, both in Spain and in other countries around the world, the installation of mini wind turbines in homes in isolated or windy areas has been growing. In many cases, this wind energy is used as a complement to photovoltaic energy.

Nowadays, clean energies are gaining market share over conventional energies. More and more consumers are keen on opting for alternative energy sources that provide comfort in the home in an environmentally friendly way. At Ecoforest, we encourage you to try them too, as they are very efficient systems that respect the planet and are increasingly cheaper for the consumer’s pocket.
