Air-source solution with R290 cascade – 72 kW of efficient heating in a supermarket

One of the supermarkets belonging to the German chain Edeka, a leader in food distribution in the country, has undertaken the renovation of its heating system, opting for Ecoforest heat pumps thanks to their efficiency and use of the natural refrigerant R290.

The installation consists of a cascade of three ecoAIR⁺ 6-24 PRO heat pumps, which supply up to 72 kW of thermal power using the natural refrigerant R290. The system is managed by an indoor CM module located in the technical room, ensuring centralised and optimal control of the installation.

Efficient and cost-effective replacement of gas-powered air heat pump

Thanks to this solution, the supermarket has been able to completely replace its old gas-powered air heat pumps. The building’s layout has also made it possible to place the equipment on the roof, freeing up space and simplifying installation tasks.

Rapid implementation of the project has improved comfort inside the store while achieving significant savings in energy efficiency and cost reduction. The ecoAIR⁺ 6-24 PRO units have flow temperatures of up to 70ºC, allowing boilers to be replaced in installations with radiators. They can also be installed in cascades of up to 6 units to meet the needs of installations of up to 144 kW.
