The Ascó Sports Complex (Tarragona) and the energy retrofit of the Efisa Tower (A Coruña) have been recognized as the Best Heat Pump Installation and Best Installation, respectively, at the iClima Awards. Both projects feature cascaded Ecoforest ecoGEO+ HP heat pumps in very different application environments.
Ascó Sports Centre
In Ascó, three ecoGEO+ HP1 20-85 HTR heat pumps are the heart of an intelligent HVAC system featuring heat pumps, ventilation, dehumidification, and heat recovery systems in a demanding installation with simultaneous heating and cooling requirements.
The installation not only guarantees comfort in spaces with opposite thermal demands, but does so while optimizing energy consumption, making it possible to reduce the payback period to less than ten years and lower the operating costs of a type of project that is often a burden on municipal budgets. With less than one year of operation, the installation has a SCOP of 4.5, with peaks of 5.2. An efficient installation carried out in collaboration with the installers Romá Infraestructures, Ingeniería Quadrifoli, and Quali Geotermia. Read more about this project.

EFISA tower
In A Coruña, two ecoGEO+ HP3 20–85 kW heat pumps made it possible to carry out the energy retrofit of the Torre Efisa residential complex, a building over 50 years old with more than 180 apartments and commercial spaces.
The heat pumps, together with the air-source energy system, BIPV photovoltaic panels, and a thermal battery system consisting of four 5,000-liter buffer tanks, operate as a highly energy-efficient integrated system. Annual heating demand has been reduced by more than 75%, carbon emissions by more than 90%, and residents’ energy bills by 50%. Thanks to the renovation, the building has achieved an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of A. The installation was carried out by Seingenia, SITAG, and Iberdrola.
