Have you ever dreamed of turning on the stove in your living room and feeling that warm embrace in your bedroom or home office too, without having to rely on expensive electric radiators? Stop dreaming and start ducting.
Ducted pellet stoves are the logical evolution of biomass heating. They do more than heat the air in the room where they are installed; they use a system of ducts to “pump” that comfort into adjoining rooms. But how can you do this efficiently in three rooms without losing heat along the way? Let’s break it down.
What exactly is a ducted pellet stove?

Unlike a conventional air stove, which only releases heat from the front, a ducted stove has one or more additional fans and air outlets at the back or top. These outlets connect to ducts that pass through walls or ceilings, allowing warm air to travel up to 7 or 14 meters.
Why choose this system?
- Fuel savings: Heat several rooms with a single load of pellets.
- Biofuels: Many Ecoforest models are multi-fuel, allowing you to use olive pits or almond shells as well as pellets.
- Full control: Thanks to Ecoforest’s exclusive electronics, you can manage the power and temperature from your phone via WiFi.
The golden rule for heating 3 rooms
To successfully heat three separate rooms, simply buying “the biggest stove” is not enough. You need the right balance between power and the number of outlets.
1. The right power output
As a guide, you generally need around $100$ W per square meter (depending on insulation). If your three rooms and living room total 120 m2, you will need a stove with at least 12 kW of power.
2. The number of ducts
For three separate rooms (in addition to the living room), it is best to look for models with multiple independent outlets. This allows you to regulate how much air you send to each area.
Technical note: Not all ducted models can heat three rooms. Some have only one additional outlet. If you want maximum performance in large spaces, the 30 kW Oslo model is the top choice, capable of heating up to 250 m2 with three ducted outlets that can each reach up to 14 meters.

If you are thinking of transforming your home, these are the ideal options for your needs:
| Model | Power | Ducted Outlets | Ideal for… |
| Bolonia | 10 kW | 1 outlet | Hallways and small adjoining rooms. |
| Ibiza | 11 kW | 2 outlets | Homes with a single-level layout and medium-sized rooms. |
| Kiev / Milan | 16 kW | Ducted | High power output with a minimalist or polished white design. |
| Oslo / Oslo Insert | 30 kW | 3 outlets | Large homes, businesses or offices of up to 250 $m^2$. |
How to avoid losing efficiency during installation
Moving air from point A to point B sounds easy, but physics has its rules. To make sure the heat reaches the third room “piping hot” (metaphorically), follow these tips:
- Duct insulation: It is vital to insulate the ducts that carry the air so the heat does not dissipate above the suspended ceiling.
- Straight runs: The fewer bends the ducts have, the less resistance the air encounters and the more efficiently the fan operates.
- ecoSILENCE mode: On models such as the Córdoba Glass, this mode allows the stove to run exceptionally quietly, which is crucial if the ducts lead to bedrooms.
- Simplified maintenance: Ecoforest stoves include the Vacuum Cleaning System, which makes it easy to clean the heat exchanger without dismantling anything, keeping efficiency at its peak.
Is this the best option for you?
If your home is already built and you do not want to undertake major renovations (such as installing underfloor heating or replacing all your radiators), a ducted pellet stove is the quickest and most affordable renewable heating solution.
Does your home have a complicated layout or very high ceilings? You might want to explore the differences between pellet and wood stoves, or even make the switch to aerothermal heating, considered by many to be “the most efficient air conditioning in the world”.
