Ecoforest, awarded the runner-up prize for Internationalisation in the Chamber of Commerce SME of the year awards

Ecoforest Geotermia has been recognised with the runner-up prize for Internationalisation in the SME of the year awards organised by the Spanish Chamber of Commerce and Banco Santander. His Majesty King Felipe VI presided over the awards ceremony, which recognised Ecoforest Geotermia’s implementation in international markets, generating 83% of its total turnover in more than 30 countries on all continents.

The air-source and ground-source heat pumps manufactured by Ecoforest in the factory in Spain have been installed in historic buildings such as Bath Abbey (United Kingdom) and Merode Castle (Belgium). Ecoforest currently markets its heat pumps throughout Europe, the United States, Canada and Australia.

Ecoforest is committed to innovation as an integral part of its business model. The launch of new heat pumps with natural refrigerant R290 and the standard hybridisation with photovoltaic panels make Ecoforest heat pumps highly efficient equipment, adaptable to any installation and capable of bringing buildings closer to net-zero energy consumption.

The family company Ecoforest started its activity in 1959 and in 1992 they became the first European manufacturer of pellet stoves. Since then, they have positioned themselves as market leaders in the manufacture of renewable air conditioning equipment with a catalogue consisting of pellet stoves and boilers, and air-source and ground-source heat pumps.The factory located in Nigrán (Pontevedra) employs more than 200 people and has its own R&D department.

SME of the Year Award 2023

H.M. King Felipe VI presided over the awards ceremony, which also recognised the company Meltio from Jaén as SME of the Year 2023, and Multiverse Computing S.L., with the runner-up prize for Innovation and Digitalisation; Gurbtec Iguana Telecom S.L. (Vera), with the runner-up prize for Training and Employment, and Tresca Ingeniería S.A., with the runner-up prize for Sustainable SME.

His Majesty the King stressed in his speech that “SMEs sustain and move our economy, contribute to its growth, drive or spread innovation and create most of the jobs. You are also the ones that suffer the most from shocks or adverse cycles in the economy, whether for domestic or external reasons, before and to a greater extent. Recognising – and valuing – your work, as well as contributing to your strength and resilience, or to your adaptation or transformation, is fundamental to promoting business development in our country.
