A multi-dwelling building in Madrid has relied on a cascade of 3 high power heat pumps from Ecoforest to supply heating, active cooling and DHW to all residents. In addition, the geothermal system operates under the criteria of maximum energy efficiency, which has allowed them to obtain the highest level of energy rating with the BREEAM certificate.

In this building, the water-to-water heat pump system is complemented by a 6,700 m2 underfloor heating surface, particularly careful thermal insulation and a double-flow ventilation system with heat recovery. Energy collection is provided by 32 boreholes 125 metres deep.

Geoter installed the heat pump system in collaboration with the real estate developer AEDAS Homes and the architectural firm Morph Estudio.

Savings

As a result, a very high SPF coefficient of performance of 6.7 in July 2023 and an annual SPF of 5.3 represent the energy efficiency of a centralised residential installation of this size. As a result, the system saves around 32,600 € per year compared to a conventional system consisting of a gas boiler and a fan heater for the same services.
