Project Cortijo Norte: The Biggest Ground-source Heat Pump Installation in Spain

In the Madrid municipality of Boadilla del Monte, in the natural environment of the Sierra de Guadarrama Park, is located Célere Cortijo Norte, one of the latest sustainable residential projects by Vía Célere.

With the collaboration of Groen Energía SL, a company specialized in the study, design, and implementation of geothermal installations, this project is currently the largest geothermal heat pump project installed in Spain.

A total of 2,176.34 kW of installed thermal power through 312 individual installations for each of the single-family homes that make up this new Vía Célere project.

Background

Célere Cortijo Norte is a new development located in Boadilla, in a unique location.

This development offers 312 homes with 4 and 5 bedrooms, with a modern and minimalist design, created by the renowned architect Alberto Martín Caballero.

Vía Célere has not forgotten about the environment, which is why Célere Cortijo Norte has an A-rated energy-efficient heating system, resulting in a decrease of CO2 emissions by 618,537.56 kgCO2/year compared to a conventional system, and a savings of up to 2100 euros per year compared to homes with an F energy rating.

Description of the installation

Each home will have humidity-regulated ventilation, underfloor heating and cooling, and thermal insulation on the façade.

In the boiler room, a geothermal heat pump will be installed for each home for the production of heating, cooling, and DHW in each of the homes, resulting in a total of 312 individual compact heat pumps ecoGEO C3 1-9 kW installed.

For the collection system, after studies conducted by Groen Energía SL, it was concluded that a borehole ranging from 95 to 125 meters deep is necessary, depending on the installation, with single U probes of 40×3.7 mm PE-100-RC.
