This complete renovation and extension project was designed for a holiday home in scenic Donegal, owned by a family based in Scotland. With the need for an efficient and remotely controlled heating system, the ecoAIR⁺ PRO (3-12 kW) heat pump was selected to provide both space heating and domestic hot water. The system was expertly installed by Efficient Renewables.
Underfloor heating and radiators
The homeowners required a solution that would maintain comfort while keeping operational costs low. The ecoAIR⁺ PRO offered several key benefits. With a SCOP of 3.8, this system delivers exceptional energy efficiency, significantly reducing heating expenses. The ground floor features underfloor heating, while the first floor is heated using radiators. The ecoAIR⁺ PRO can efficiently deliver 50°C to the upstairs living area. Homeowners can monitor and control their heating system from Scotland, ensuring a warm home upon arrival while minimizing unnecessary energy use. By replacing the previous oil and turf heating system, the new setup eliminates the risk of oil theft while drastically cutting carbon emissions. The system is integrated with solar photovoltaic panels, further reducing electricity costs and increasing self-sufficiency.
Impressive Cost & Energy Savings
Previously, the home consumed 2,000 liters of oil and turf per year, leading to high running costs. With the ecoAIR⁺ PRO system, annual heating costs have dropped to just €700 – €830. Additionally, the client secured an SEAI grant of €6,500, making the transition to renewable energy even more cost-effective.
