Doubts about biomass?

Pellets are little cylinders usually with a lenght of 6-8 mm made with wood waste without any type of additives and with an humidity of less than 10%.

The pellet price is stable unlike petrol or gas.

Pellets are made from wood waste and normally they are consumed in the same area of production, promoting in this way the cleaning of forests, local employment and wealth.

Pellets have high calorific power.

Pellets don’t produce odors.

Pellets have a lower CO2 footprint and emission, helping on the reduction of greenhouse efect.

The essential requirement for the storage of pellets is that they need to be on a dry location. Fulfilling this requirement the pellets can be stored in 15kg bags, in rigid, textil or buried silos.

It is required to install a flue between the pellet stove/boiler and the outside air (usually with a diameter of 80 or 100 mm), made of stainless steel pipe, and with at least two meters of vertical pipe to create natural draft in case of power failure. The flue pipe must not be installed with any other kind of shared pipeline, such as another stove or other heating system flue.

A pellet stove can be installed in a flat, but it will always be necessary to ask the community for permission and to approve it unanimously, as well as to respect the installation norms indicated in the R.I.T.E code.

For a good performance of your stove it is essential to carry out cleaning and maintenance operations. The user must vacuum the ashes from the burner, empty the ashtray drawer, clean the glass of the door. It is mandatory to do a general maintenance once a year or every 500 kilos of burned fuel, this should be done by a qualified technician, in which, among other things, he must clean the exhaust pipe of gases, ashes in the extractor and review pipe joints.

The air heaters expel warm air through the front of the machine, to heat all the space where the machine is located. The ducted air heaters carry heat to other rooms through ducts and can heat several rooms at the same time. The hydro stoves have an hydraulic system and connects to a heating wet system (radiators, underfloor heating …)

Not all pellet stoves and boilers can use several types of fuel. All Ecoforest stoves are polycombustible, you can use pellets, olive stone or almond shell.

In equal conditions of heat production, the pellet costs less than fossil fuels (around 25% less than natural gas and 2 times less than diesel) and its price has not suffered over the years the same oscillations that have affected fossil fuel derivatives. Therefore, changing to a pellet heating system it’s clearly an smart choice.

A heat pump is a thermal machine that extracts energy from a renewable thermal source, processes it through a thermodynamic cycle and delivers the resulting energy into a heating, cooling or DHW (domestic hot water) system.

The heat pump is a system that allows energy to be exchanged between two environments. The primary (brine) can be defined as the environment that the heat pump uses as a source of energy, this also defines the classification of the heat pumps mainly into aerothermal, using the air as a source of energy, and geothermal using the ground as a source of energy. The secondary (production)  is defined as the environment the heat pump delivers the processed energy, can be radiators, underfloor heating, fan coils, DHW, pool or any other circuit.

Geothermal energy is defined as energy stored in the form of heat in the ground below the surface, therefore, it englobes the heat stored in rocks, soil and groundwater, whatever its temperature, depth and origin. Geothermal resources are classified as the portion of geothermal energy that can be used by man. These resources are classified according to their temperature level: high temperature (above 150 ° C), medium temperature (between 150 and 130 ° C), low temperature (between 100 and 30 ° C) and very low temperature (lower than 30 ° C).

Therefore, geothermal energy is a source of renewable energy that can be used directly for heating or electricity production, and indirectly as a high efficiency energy source for heat pump application.

A geothermal heat pump uses the ground as his source of energy. This energy can be captured using an array of pipes in a closed system buried underground horizontally, vertically (borehole) or even sinked in the water, or in a open system pumping the ground water through a heat exchanger.
